Working out at a local CrossFit facility can get your blood pumping and muscles burning! This local facility recently expanded into a new industrial warehouse location, which used existing 175 Watt mercury vapor surface mounted luminaires controlled by manual switching. There were a few luminaires no longer in operation and a couple that would flicker constantly while in operation.  Replacement parts could not be ordered due to the age of the existing fixtures. The landlord was looking for a better solution without full replacement.

Terralux recommended using the SR12, surface mounted, 32 watt, round, 12” LED retrofit kit. The installation couldn’t have been easier. The existing lamps and ballasts were removed (each weighing approximately 3-4 pounds). Existing wires were reconnected to the SR12 retrofit kit, LEDSENSE® unit for 0-10V lighting control, and placed inside the existing housing. In addition, remote wireless switches and occupancy sensors were installed in the space which allowed for dimming capability too. Maintenance on the existing fixtures had taken up to 1 hour per fixture based on which component was found to have failed (lamp, ballast, socket). With the new installation, each unit took approximately 10-15 minutes to retrofit.

The lumen output was also maintained, actually improving upon the quality of the space with better color temperature, CRI and distribution. The owners were excited to have improved the lighting in their space and give clients flicker-free, energy efficient lighting. They also now benefit from energy savings with the automated controls and significant reduction in wattage of each fixture.
